Principles by Drizzt Do'Urden

To place the value of one human being above another simply because that one wears the same skin color I, belittles my principles.

I will not raise my sword except in defense of my principles, to defend the lives of others who cannot defend themselves, or to defend my own life.

I will not do battle to further the causes of false prophets, to further the treasures of kings, or to avenge my own injured pride.

And to the many gold-wealthy mercenaries, religious and secular, who would look upon such a vow as unrealistic, impractical, and ridiculous, I cross my arms over my chest and declare with conviction that I am the richer by far. --Drizzt Do'Urden
